You broke Xbox + PS4 controller on iPadOS & iOS 13 in the latest update
By DJ-Keebz (Pcmac )
When iOS/iPadOS 13 beta first launch the app worked flawlessly with Xbox and PS4 controllers but the recent update seems to have broken something. I realize this is beta software but loads of people are eager to get their hands on that sweet Xbox/PS4 controller , so it’d be great if you could fix it while the OS is still in beta! Basically, it is now asking to setup both controllers immediately when opening the app by mapping each button, but it crashes on the final button (start) and also won’t let me map the guide button (which I know is probably an MFi limitation, but still). I wish it would just work out of the box like it did before and recognize these controllers similar to the Rotor Riot controller. I realize I’m using beta software hence me only knocking the stars off my review temporarily by one, but I need that sweet Xbox + PS4 controller back! I’ve had a taste of it and can’t go back now. Tested this on the newest regular iPad and the iPad Pro from 2017, both with the same result.
Great App, useless without an MFI
By WhatACoincidence (Pcmac )
I am so happy this app exists, I love being able to take my entire the app library wherever I go. The versatility is so great, and it’s so much fun being able to play wherever I want with my friends. My only complaints are that the connection can get kind of shifty, but that’s to be expected with a cloud streaming app, so i don’t really give much fault to that. The other, and more major, one is that unless you have an MFI or some kind of controller, this app is pretty much useless. The touch control registry for most of the games is nonexistent, and they only truly work with some sort of external controller. I have one and it works great for me, so I live using this app all the time, but unless you have some sort of controller or MFI, this app is useless.
Lacks Native / Touch Screen
By ilovehsn (Pcmac )
For me the only controllers I own are some Xbox controllers. The problem is the lack of for touch screen. I used to play a lot of touch screen games when I was younger. Now that I’m older; I’m fine playing them casually in another room. However, when trying to play games I found myself having no easy native controls. With me having to mingle with each game. This app works perfectly. If you have good internet and a good computer. The result is very visually appeasing with close to no lag. To me the app should have built some more features. Like remote using of the PC. Like being able to use mouse and keyboard mode on the computer with the app minimized. You are able to do this as I clicked out of the game and had remote access of the PC. Additionally PC remote controls like turn on from sleep or turn off. I’m aware that other programs have these capabilities; Integration of these services with this app would be a very impressive way to get people using the app. Overall very satisfied. Would recommend to a friend. -Zack Felcyn
Amazing
By JLImun (Pcmac )
The idea of being able to play my games on my phone or other devices is in itself amazing. I’m absolutely blown away at this. Not only does this allow me some freedom in regards to proximity and the like, it gives new life to games I’ve shelved. For example, Stardew Valley: great game, I love it, but I’ve always felt it would be better as a mobile game and when I saw it on my phone’s App Store, I knew it would be fun but I wasn’t willing to buy it twice. This allows me to not only play Stardew Valley on my mobile but also treat it like I have felt it should be, something I check in on and play in 20 minute or so increments rather than dedicate hours to at a time. Brilliant idea, and the fact that it’s possible.... I can’t sing your praises enough.
